14.03.2022GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES: PERSONALDEVELOPMENT GROUP WORKOn February 9 and 14, 2022, FMV Ayazağa Işık High School and Science High SchoolGuidance and Counseling Department held a four-session seminar on personal developmentgroup work as a part of the project titled Işık Prepares For Life.During the sessions students worked on understanding and managing emotions, empathy,communication, and recognizing their own characteristics and values. They also gavefeedback to each other. They collaborated to understand themselves and each other. -

FMV Ayazağa Işık High School and Science High School students had their first online meeting within the scope of the eTwinning project “Journal Mensuel Belgo-Turc” carried out by the Department of Foreign Languages. Our students, who shared their New Year's wishes with Belgian students in the past weeks, met with their Belgian friends, improved their French language skills and introduced our school.

FMV Ayazağa Işık High School and Science High School students, under the leadership of the Turkish Language and Literature Department, with the students of TED İzmir College in the eTwinning project “From Novel to Stage: Aylak Adam”, of which our school is the founding partner. Students, who will simultaneously examine Yusuf Atılgan's novel "Aylak Adam", will make a joint short film based on the novel by filming extracts they have selected. The project is planned to be completed with a forum to be organized among the students.
We wish our students success in their work throughout the project.

On January 18, 2022, FMV Ayazağa Işık High School and Science High School Guidance and Counseling Department held a seminar on adolescent psych for the parents. In the seminar, parents were informed about the biological basis of the problems that students experience during adolescence, the reasons for the psychological ups and downs, and about the methods of coping with these problems.

On January 17, 2022, in the School Sports Basketball Junior Boys National Tournament held in Trabzon, the FMV Ayazağa Işık High School Basketball Team won its first game against Rize Tevfik İleri Anatolian High School.

On January 19, 2022, in the School Sports Basketball Junior Boys National Tournament held in Trabzon, the FMV Ayazağa Işık High School Basketball Team defeated Trabzon Net Anatolian High School and qualified to compete in the semi finals.
Our players were awarded by our School Principal Mr. Özgür ALPER and our Sporting Director Mr. Ayhan ÖZGÜMÜŞ, who went to Trabzon to watch the group’s final match.
We congratulate our team and wish them good luck in the semi finals that will be held between February 9-12, 2022.

The FMV Ayazağa Işık High School Basketball Team, which ranked fourth in the School Sports Basketball Junior Boys Tournament in İstanbul, has qualified to compete in the School Sports Basketball Junior Boys National Tournament held in Trabzon January 16 - 20, 2022.
We wish our team good luck in the tournament.

Mathematics Contests
14.03.2022University of Waterloo Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Mathematics ContestsOn February 24, 2022, FMV Ayazağa Işık High School students participated in the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat math contests designed for different age groups by theCentre for Education in Mathematics and Computing at the University of Waterloo. In the current academic year, 16 9th graders participated in the Pascal contest, 14 10thgraders participated in the Cayley contest, and 20 11th graders participated in the Fermat contest. -
MODERN WORLD DEBATES 2022 INTERNATIONAL DEBATE TOURNAMENT
14.03.2022MODERN WORLD DEBATES 2022 INTERNATIONAL DEBATE TOURNAMENT
FMV Ayazağa Işık High School and Science High School Debate Club students became the only school representing Turkey in the international tournament called "MWD 2022 Online Debate Tournament", in which 184 high school students from 11 different countries competed with 46 teams between 14-15-16 of January 2022.
Altan Ege Koçyiğit, Ayşe Deren Aktürk, Arda Kaz, Defne Güler, Ege Karagöz, Feride Duru Özköse, İrem Deniz Kaynak, Mehveş Gökhan, Nil Sarper, Nisan Helvacı, Ömer Karaman, Talya İris Tokbaş, Yağız Efe Çam and Ela Uçan played 4 matches with the teams of United Arab Emirates, South Korea and India, each lasting approximately one hour. Before the tournament, our students had the opportunity to attend a 2-hour Debate training on January 14, 2022.
Our 9th grade student Ayşe Deren Aktürk took part in the panel where the youth's voice to sustainable social change tools was discussed. During the 30-minute panel, together with young people from 10 other countries participating in the panel, our student received great appreciation for the successful answers she gave to the questions asked by the moderator, representing Turkey.
Our students have improved in expressing themselves in English on an international platform and represented their country with pleasing success in the prestigious tournament attended by many students from different countries.
We congratulate our Debate Society Club students who successfully represented our school by participating in the tournament and wish them continued success.
